Overview of the AELP
. The AELP is a subscription licensing program for higher education institutions
. It is a simple way to get licensed Apple software product(s) to faculty and staff of the
University (“Employees”).
. Term of the Agreement: twelve (12) months, effective July 20th, 2011 and ending July 19th,
2012, to be subsequently renewed for twelve month period(s).
. The cost of the AELP is based on the number of Apple computers in service owned by
the University.
. The licensed software can be installed on any Apple computer owned by the University at
no cost, for use by Employees for University purposes.

Software products covered by the AELP
By default, any Apple computer is purchased with a Mac-OS license and therefore, per
the terms of the AELP, is eligible for an update to the current version of the Apple
software.

The following is a list of products covered by the AELP:
. Operating System Updates to the latest version:
o Mac OS
. Apple Office Suite Updates to the latest version:
o iWork
o iLife

Only English versions of the products listed above will be deployed on University owned
computers. At no time will IITS (or any University IT staff) distribute software products
in any format (CD, DVD, ISO image, etc.). The standard system image is pre-installed on
IT Standards Computers. IT Standard Computers are pre-installed and will contain
Apple products covered by the AELP.

Inventory Management Practices

Any update performed on an Apple Computer per the AELP must be registered in the
inventory database by the IT staff that performed such update. This registration is
necessary and will provide the information that is required by Apple at the time of
renewal of the University’s AELP.

Software products excluded from the AELP

The AELP DOES NOT cover software products not listed in the present document
above.

The AELP DOES NOT cover any server products other than Mac OS.

Purchasing Practices

Any purchase request for a software product COVERED by the AELP WILL NOT BE
AUTHORIZED
by the University’s Purchasing Services Department.

Any purchase request for products NOT COVERED by the AELP MUST BE APPROVED, as per standard purchasing procedures, by the University’s Purchasing
Services Department.
